WHO WE ARE

ABOUT TRAGOPAN

We got tired of cutting holes in cheap hunting hides too! So we started designing premium photography blinds suited to the needs of photographers.

At Tragopan, we believe in putting wildlife welfare first. It is the main reason we started this business: to promote the practice of using photography blinds and concealment to lessen our cumulative and individual impacts on wildlife and habitat. We also know this approach creates unique opportunities for photography!

Using hides benefits wildlife and photographers in many ways:

  • It eliminates foot pursuit that can cause wildlife to flush, flee, or change their behavior.
  • It spreads photographers out, reducing impacts on habitat and popular locations.
  • It gets photographers closer to wildlife, more often, without impact.
  • It opens up new opportunities closer to home where animals may be less approachable.
  • It increases chances to photograph natural, undisturbed behavior.

It allows us to create unique images in new places, instead of creating the same images at the same places everyone else goes.

SIMON EARDLEY is a Wildlife Photographer,YouTube Filmaker and Artist based in Montgomeryshire, Wales,UK. Born and bred in Lancashire he grew up exploring the vast moorlands, forests and amazing coastlines that the NorthWest of England had to offer. He soon developed a passion for birding and wildlife watching and became a keen artist portraying the subjects he observed. This eventually demaded better reference material and this was when the photography and filmmaking started. His passion for stalking and using clever concealment to get close to subjects led him to Tragopan and soon was using an extensive range of the companys products to get some truly memorable images. Simon began as an ambassador for Tragopan in 2020 and is now the sole UK supplier for the company.

Jonathan Martinez is a French birder, wildlife photographer, and the founder of Tragopan. He has been fascinated by ornithology and photography since childhood and spent 10 years living and working in China where he was a specialty luggage designer. In China, Jonathan travelled extensively in search of birds and became a regional authority on South China’s birdlife and little known species like Swinhoe’s Plover and Spoon-billed Sandpiper. Dissatisfied with some of the specialized equipment he was using for wildlife photography, especially photography blinds, Jonathan launched Tragopan in 2010. Since then he has led the design and manufacture of Tragopan equipment and is continually seeking innovative improvements and new product ideas for the wildlife photographer.
